Ailsa Piper performs her monologue Sunlight and Sins as she takes us on a poetic pilgrimage from Granada to Galicia. Ailsa Piper has worked throughout Australia as a writer, theatre director, actor, teacher, speaker and pate-wrapper! She completed her MA at the University of Melbourne during a three-year stint as a resident actor in Neighbours’ Ramsay Street. Her first love was the theatre, which took her from Western Australia, where she grew up on a 500,000 acre sheep station, to Sydney and on to Melbourne. Ailsa was co-winner of the inaugural Patrick White Playwright’s Award for her theatre scriptSmall Mercies; and has been nominated for Green Room Awards for acting and directing. 2012 saw the fruition of several projects. Her book Sinning Across Spain, was published in April. Her episode of ABC Radio’s Poetica aired on May 5th. On July 11th, Bell Shakespeare opened a production of Duchess of Malfi, co-adapted by Ailsa, at the Sydney Opera House.She is a passionate – some would say obsessive – walker.
