Toni Jordan and Deborah Burrows discuss the role romance plays in their novels with Rosemary Sayer. Toni Jordan was born in Brisbane in 1966 and graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Science. Her debut novel, Addition, was shortlisted for the Barbara Jefferis Award and longlisted for the Miles Franklin in 2009, and has been published in sixteen countries. Her second novel, Fall Girl, was published in 2010. The highly successful novel Nine Days was published in 2012. Deborah Burrows is a writer, lawyer and historian, who lives in Perth. She specialises in the area of medical law, and also has several degrees in history including a post-graduate degree in medical history from the University of Oxford, where her dissertation was Science in the Witness Box: Expert Medical Testimony in criminal poisoning trials in England 1800-1860 (bringing together her interest in crime, history, medicine and the legal process).
