University of Sydney (UTS) Writer-in-Residence

Found in: News

The Cultural Fund of the Copyright Agency in partnership with the UTS Centre for New Writing is pleased to announce the ‘New Writer’s $40,000 Residency’.

It is well known that for emerging writers completing that second or third book is extremely difficult given the financial pressures that writers face. From July 2017 a new Australian writer will be selected nationally as UTS Writer-In Residence for twelve months. To qualify as 'new' the writer will have had one or two works of fiction or non-fiction published with a commercial publisher since July 2012. The writer will be required to have a contract or written agreement from a publisher for their next book. This unique opportunity will provide the financial security to complete a new work and to connect the writer with the much-celebrated UTS writing program.

Applications close 25 July 2017.
