The Horne Prize, now in its second year, will be awarded for an original essay of up to 3000 words. All Australian writers are invited to enter and the winner of the prize will receive $15,000 and have their essay published in The Saturday Paper. Submissions to this year’s prize should once again address the theme ‘Australian life’. Essays should be based on in-depth reportage and bring light to a particular person or issue affecting our nation. All writers are invited to enter.
Entries close 18 September 2017.
The prize is named for the late Donald Horne AO, in honour of his exceptional contribution to Australian letters. A shortlist will be announced on 17 November; the winner will be announced and the winning essay published in The Saturday Paper on 23 December.
