The inaugural Melbourne Art Book Fair took place in 2015 and the annual event has since attracted more than 29,000 visitors, making it the most well-attended publishing event in the Asia-Pacific region. The third Melbourne Art Book Fair in 2017 will bring together international and local publishers and practitioners in a weekend of free talks, book launches, performances, and stalls featuring art, design, architecture and photography publications from around the world.
The National Gallery of Victoria further expands on the success of the Melbourne Art Book Fair with the introduction of a prestigious international book prize, the Cornish Family Prize for Art and Design Publishing. The Cornish Family Prize is the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, and will award the winner with $15,000 AUD, with additional $1,000 AUD prizes for up to five finalists.
The NGV invites applications from publishers, artists, designers, writers, curators and organisations around the world whose publishing practice explores art, design, architecture and contemporary culture. Titles must have been published between Dec 2015 – Dec 2016.
Applications are now open and close 17 February at 5pm. For more information on the award and how to apply, please view the link here.
