Submissions for The Horne Prize are closing soon

Found in: News

Entries for The Horne Prize are closing soon. The Horne Prize, valued at $15,000, will be awarded in late December for an essay of up to 3000 words, addressing some part of the theme 'Australian Life'.

The prize is named for the late Professor Donald Horne, in honour of his exceptional contribution to Australian letters. A shortlist will be announced 30 November 2016; the winner will be announced and the winning essay published in The Saturday Paper on 24 December.

All Australian writers are invited to enter The Horne Prize. Taking cues from Donald Horne's rigorous exploration of Australian cultre, essays should be based on reportage, and bring light to a person or issue that helps us to understand who we are.

Entries are open until October 31.
