Not Very Quiet is a new twice yearly online journal which aims to offer an opportunity for more women poets of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to publish their work. They believe it’s more important than ever to provide a platform to extend the range and breadth of poetry written by women so as to encourage and strengthen its impact.
The theme for the first issue is a quote from Gloria Steinem:
‘ … we will not be quiet, we will not be controlled, we will work for a world in which all countries are connected. God may be in the details, but the goddess is in connections. We are at one with each other, we are looking at each other, not up. No more asking daddy.’
Use the quote as a prompt, a provocation, a reminder note, a tease, a dissonance, for your writing.
Poems should be a maximum of 32 lines and submitted via the journal's Submittable.
Submissions close on 1 July. Visit the website for more details here.
