$25,000 Arts Forward Indigenous Fellowship

Found in: News

The Department of Culture and the Arts' inaugural $25,000 Arts Forward Indigenous Fellowship will be awarded for the first time in 2014.

Department acting director general Alan Ferris said the new Fellowship had been created in response to consultation with Indigenous artists and arts workers.

'Their feedback told us that while there was plenty of support for emerging artists, however more support was needed for artists in their mid-career phase to assist them to extend their practice,' Mr Ferris said.

'So in order to try and better meet the needs of mid-career artists, the Department has created the Fellowship, which will be open to applicants in the March grant round each year,' he said.

The Fellowship will be open to individual established Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and arts-workers in any art form excluding film, television and radio.
